New Marketing hires drive Wren Sterling’s and Magnus’ growth plans

Wren Sterling, the leading national financial planning firm, has made two further senior appointments in its Marketing team with Alex Birch joining as Head of Communications and Victoria Sheridan becoming Head of Investment Marketing for Wren Sterling’s sister investment management business, Magnus.

They join Julie Serrage, who became Head of Growth Marketing at the start of 2026 following a 15-year career at Brooks Macdonald. She provides strategy and execution support to Wren Sterling’s key routes to market; Private Client, Workplace (Wren Sterling’s employee benefits and wellbeing channel), and Corporate Partnerships.

Alex Birch has over 20 years of PR and marketing experience and joined after six years leading PR and communications at BGF, the UK’s most active investor in growing businesses. She will be leading Wren Sterling’s internal communications as the company continues to grow. Headcount and office locations have grown considerably in recent years to over 500 employees and more than 20 locations across the UK. Alex will also coordinate Wren Sterling’s PR and media work, focusing on championing the value of financial planning, and raising awareness of Wren Sterling across its key target markets of UK individuals, corporates and business owners.

Victoria Sheridan has 17 years’ experience in financial services marketing and PR, including at M&G where she held a senior product marketing role. Her remit at Magnus, as its first dedicated marketing hire, is to accelerate adoption of Magnus and to support the investment management team to deliver more personalised communications to advisers and their clients. She will also develop the long-term brand strategy for Magnus, positioning it as a leading option for financial planners and their clients.

Magnus has grown its assets to over £2.5bn and its investment solutions have performed very strongly, with all six active portfolios currently rated Platinum by ARC and five out of nine passive portfolios also Platinum with the remaining four rated Gold.

Nick Moules, Wren Sterling’s Marketing Director added: “Adding this layer of seniority and experience to the team is exactly what we need to ensure our activity continues to create sufficient opportunity for both Wren Sterling and Magnus as they scale.

“Julie has made a big impact in our Private Client and Workplace lead generation work since the start of 2026, as well as supporting some big contract wins in the Corporate Partnership space. Both Victoria and Alex are taking on newly created roles, which reflects the demand in our business for more communication skills and sharp focus on commercial outcomes from marketing activity.

“As a result, it’s an exciting time to join Wren Sterling as a Financial Planner because we’re creating more client enquiries than ever, while our best-ever NPS scores in 2026 indicate that we’re landing the service we promise clients at the outset.”
