A 2018 survey conducted by Human Resource Executive magazine, “What’s Keeping HR Leaders Up at Night”, found that 32% of respondents considered employee engagement and productivity as their primary concern, an increase of 3% over last year.
For many in HR, internal communications and reward roles this won’t come as a surprise. Engagement is seen as the holy grail for attracting and retaining employees and productivity has been in the press a lot in recent years as the UK’s productivity has flatlined.
Raising awareness to raise engagement
Employees will only value the benefits on offer from their employer if they truly understand what these are, how they work, and how they apply to them. Once understood, we typically see a greater appreciation of what their employer is doing for them, and in turn raising engagement and retention.
An online portal can provide an easy and accessible way for employees to learn more about their benefits, therefore increasing their understanding and appreciation.
Making your employees’ wages go further
Although the traditional suite of employee benefits ensures employees’ livelihoods and beneficiaries are looked after, such benefits are sometimes undervalued by some employees as they may seem a long way off before they benefit (Workplace Pension), or something drastic has to happen to benefit (life cover, income protection).
If you want your employees to benefit immediately and make your employees’ wages go further, you might want to consider a Retail Discount Shopping Portal. They offer your employees discounts at a range of leading retailers, from their everyday grocery shop, to larger ticket items such as TVs, holidays, and even new kitchens.
According to Sodexo, a major supplier of discount shopping portals, an employee earning £20-30k a year could save £1,000 a year based on typical lifestyle spends (clothing, weekly entertainment, a holiday, weekly shopping). Wren Sterling offers the Sodexo portal to clients at a specially discounted rate so speak to your adviser if you’re interested in introducing this service.
