Wren Sterling – Executive Team


Ian is the Executive Chairman of Wren Sterling. He is also Executive Chairman of John Charcol, Non Executive Chairman of Connection Capital, and is a member of the Executive Advisory Board to Palatine Private Equity LLP. Ian specialises in mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments within the financial services industry.

With over 25 years' experience he has held a number of other senior positions including Retail Director at Aviva Life responsible for their Direct business, CEO of Towergate Financial and John Charcol, and Group Commercial Director at Bradford and Bingley.

Ian joined Wren Sterling from Aviva in November 2016. He has significant experience across financial services and until he started at Wren Sterling, he was in charge of Aviva’s investments in IFAs, networks and distribution businesses, helping them with strategy and proposition development.

Throughout the rest of his career Ian has worked for some of the most recognisable brands in UK financial services including Prudential and Scottish Widows.

Paul has 30 years' experience in financial services and prior to joining Wren Sterling in 2008, he held a number of senior positions within banks and building societies, including Commercial Director at the Stroud and Swindon Building Society. Here he was responsible for the Society’s distribution channels and subsidiary property company. In his role as Chief Commercial Officer for Wren Sterling he is responsible for Wren Sterling’s proposition development, marketing, acquisitions, pension liability management and de-risking work for large corporates, and bank / building society partnerships.

Elaine has over 25 years of financial services experience, having been successful in Sales Management, T&C and Compliance. Elaine joined the business three years ago, with a specific brief of T&C design and implementation, and has more latterly combined this role with overseeing file quality and compliance monitoring. Elaine is highly qualified working towards Chartered Status, and has particular expertise in pensions, having acted as a pension transfer specialist for 11 years.

Carolanne Robinson is an operational process expert in the financial advice market. Following thirteen years at Tilney (formerly Towry) in senior operational positions, she joined Wren Sterling in October 2017. Carolanne is trained in Lean Six Sigma methodology and brings rigour to Wren Sterling’s transformation projects as the business continues to invest and grow, including the further integration of Intelligent Office in operations processes.

Carolanne is responsible for paraplanning, administration and facilities at Wren Sterling.

Andy Moss

Andy joined Wren Sterling as Finance Director in March 2016 and brings with him a wealth of experience across a variety of sectors obtained within a number of blue chip organisations. Andy has also worked in a number of private equity backed businesses. He has been a Finance Director for over 15 years and is a Chartered Accountant. His experience also includes a spell as Managing Director of a division of Cable & Wireless plc.

Stephen joined Wren Sterling in November 2016 from Wesleyan Assurance Society. With 18 years of experience in a wide range of roles spanning Learning & Development, Diversity & Senior HR Generalist roles across both the Public and Private sector, Stephen brings a wealth of experience in Organisational Change, TUPE, Talent Development & Performance Management, underpinned by Employment Law expertise to Wren Sterling. Stephen is also leading on the design and implementation of Wren Sterling's People Strategy.

Wren Sterling – Channel Directors


Kevin spent 14 years at Woolwich / Barclays initially as a Financial Adviser before successfully moving into management, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience in the private client, SME and mortgage arenas. He joined Origen in early 2011 as a Regional Manager and was promoted to the role as Head of Private Client in December of that year, leading a team of seven managers and circa 50 consultants. Kevin joined Wren Sterling in January 2013 as the Managing Director of its London and South East division as part of their plans for significant growth in this area.

Simon Jones

Simon has over 20 years of senior financial service experience and he joined Wren Sterling in 2008 when he sold his business, Paramount Group Ltd to previous owners, Towergate Financial. After three years as Regional Managing Director of Towergate Financial North, he became Wren Sterling’s Director of Business Development. In this role Simon has won several key accounts on a national level for Wren Sterling and developed relationships with a host of professional introducers including lawyers and accountants. He is now responsible for Wren Sterling’s corporate client channel across the UK.

Colin had 23 years' experience in Financial Services prior to joining Wren Sterling in 2008. He has held a number of senior leadership positions including Director of Sales. Colin spent 14 years managing sales for a large mutual organization. In his role as Managing Director Partnerships he is responsible for all our Building Society Partnerships among other distribution channels. He is a qualified adviser and has experienced in leading large teams.
